Alberta Canada Fishing Trips for Walleye and Northern Pike
Fly-in Fishing Adventures at Thurston Lake with Alberta Bush Adventures

Trophy WalleyeAlberta Bush Adventures would like to welcome you to a great fly-in fishing adventure at Thurston Lake in northwestern Alberta for Northern Pike and Walleye. The lake's remoteness and low fishing pressure is why the fishing offers world class trophy Pike and Walleye. The pike are to 30 pounds and walleye to 10 pounds.

3 Full Days of Fishing
We encourage everyone to employ "catch & release" and the use of barbless hooks. It takes many years for a fish to reach trophy size, by releasing them, you will ensure excellent fishing for generations to come. There is nothing wrong with keeping fish to eat, but keep the smaller to medium sized fish for your lunch. The larger fish are always mature females; they hold the gene pools that are responsible for restocking the lake. When you land a trophy pike and/or walleye, quickly remove the hook and take a couple of pictures of the fish. These make the best memories to hang on the wall. A replica of the pike or walleye can be made by a taxidermist from your photo without killing the fish.

Fly-in fishing season for Northern pike and walleye begins approximately June 1st and can go as late as July 10th depending on consecutive bookings. You must have groups of four to get the best rate. There is a maximum of 8 people in camp. Extended fly-in fishing trips can be arranged.

What you must bring to your fly-in fishing trip in Alberta:
Sleeping Bag Small bottle of insect repellent
Personal Items (extra clothes, toothbrush, towel, etc.) Valid Alberta Fishing License
Camera and extra film enough food for your stay
fishing equipment Flashlight

When packing, please keep in mind that this is a fly-in fishing trip and whenever planes are involved, weight and bulk must be considered. One 40 quart cooler and small cardboard box is usually all you'll need to pack food for four people on a three day trip. Clothes must be packed in a soft dufffel bag; your weight limit is 60 pounds per person. Overloading planes is both dangerous and illegal, the pilot will have the last word! Please keep in mind that there could be delays at either end of your trip because of weather.

Price of fly-in fishing trip includes:

  • Air travel from High Level Alberta to Thurston Lake;
  • Boats, motors, fuel and life jackets;
  • 12 x 14 wall tent with wood burning heater;
  • cots with mattresses;
  • Cooking facility with utensils, pots/pans/dishes & barbeque
