Peace River Camp (McLennan)
We hunt spring black bear, fall black bear, elk, waterfowl, black bear & waterfowl combo hunts and whitetail deer from this camp. Situated in the boreal forest of north western Alberta, approximately 250 miles from Edmonton, where the agriculture and the wilderness meet. Large tracks of grain and hay fields to the south & west and big bush to the north & east make this excellent hunting area. The country is very flat with creeks, rivers and lakes scattered throughout. The forests are treed mostly with poplar, spruce, pine, willow and birch. Peace River camp offers a comfortable log cabin sleeping facility for the hunters. All meals are enjoyed in our home. We specialize in home-style cooking including freshly prepared entrees, soups & sandwiches, home made deserts, cookies and pies. Our goal is to create meals that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.
Spring Black Bear Hunting - Each season, monster black bears are taken with the top end in the 7.5 foot plus 500 pound range. Our success on black bear is around 160%. The Peace River camp is situated in WMU 523 (Wildlife Management Unit) which is a 2-bear licence & is a baiting zone which allows a hunter to be selective on harvest.
Fall Black Bear Hunting & Waterfowl Hunting Combo - Fall black bear hunts combined with some hot action of waterfowl hunting offers excellent opportunity for both during Alberta's best season!
Elk Hunts - This area provides excellent habitat for Elk, as the agriculture provides high protein feed and the surrounding boreal forest provides natural feed, as well as, great cover and bedding areas. Alberta Bush Adventures can offer good Archery hunts starting in late August & Rifle hunts mid September at the beginning of the Elk rut.
Moose Hunting - Hunt in November post-rut, spot & stalk in the boreal forests of the Peace River area of Northwest Alberta. This hunt offers a great opportunity for some of the best tasting wild meat.
Whitetail Deer Hunting - It's no secret that Alberta's whitetail deer are one of the most sought after trophies in North America. Because of genetics, unlimited quality feed and low hunting pressure, our Northern whitetail deer have become world famous.
Waterfowl hunting. We are located in some of Alberta's finest farmland. Large fields of wheat, barley and peas combined with a few large lakes and numerous puddle lakes with three major flyways filtering through this area make this a waterfowl hunter's paradise!
Rainbow Lake Camp
We hunt black bears both spring & fall and moose from this camp. Rainbow Lake is situated in WMU 536 (Wildlife Management Unit). This WMU offers a 2-bear licence & is a baiting zone which allows a hunter to be selective on harvest. This area is heavily wooded with large tracks of forests and no agriculture for many miles. Mixed spruce, aspen, pine, willows and alder make up the forest cover. Lakes and creeks cut through the country as well as muskeg swamps. Camp is located approximately 300 miles north of our Peace River (McLennan) Camp. The topography is fairly flat with some rolling hills near the lakes and rivers. Oil company activity in the region has allowed us the opportunity to explore this dense land.
Our bush camp is as comfortable as any considering the remoteness. Our sleeping tents have wooden frames, wood heaters and cots with two hunters per tent. The camp consists of canvas tents, with a large tent being the cooking and dining area. The cook tent also has a wooden frame and floor. A cook is on staff full time to prepare meals. We specialize in home-style cooking including freshly prepared entrees, soups & sandwiches, home made deserts, cookies and pies. Our goal is to create meals that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.
The Rainbow Lake camp has a generator to power lights, charge batteries, etc. We also boast a shower house which has a hot water tank and a small pressure system with hot and cold running water. A hot shower can be very refreshing after a hard day of moose hunting and/or black bear hunting.
